Eclipse begins at 5:21 p.m. on 5/20/2012:


News 3’s Kevin Janison provides continuous exclusive updates on the eclipse each weeknight on NEWS 3.

Follow Kevin's journey as he tracks the approaching Eclipse and travels Nevada to locate the best viewing spot to witness the eclipse as it happens.

The annular solar eclipse -- an eclipse in which the sun and moon are in alignment, although the sun can still be seen as a bright ring around the moon -- will take place on Sunday, May 20 at 5:21 p.m.

Viewing the eclipse with the naked eye can cause serious and permanant eye damage. Safe viewing requires the use of of either a pinhole projector or lenses specially-designed for viewing eclipses.
