Venus Transit 2012
Transit begins at 3:07 p.m. on 6/05/2012:

If you still have your eclipse goggles, hold onto them, because on Tuesday, June 5, Venus will pass in front of the sun.

Kevin Janison will cover the Venus transit live from the Planetarium during News 3 at 4, 5, and 6. A time lapse of the transit will be shown on Wednesday, June 6.

The next Venus Transit will not take place until 2117, so be sure to catch it as the planet passes in front of the sun from 3:07 p.m. until after sunset on Tuesday, June 5.

Viewing the transit with the naked eye can cause serious and permanant eye damage. Safe viewing requires the use of lenses specially-designed for viewing eclipses.
