LAS VEGAS Clark County will host a government surplus auction at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, in the County storage lot located at 4320 Stephanie St., off Flamingo Road near Dog Fancier’s Park.
Clark County hosts the popular auctions three times a year with several other government agencies. The auctions feature items used or acquired by government agencies ranging from cars and trucks to office equipment and lost and found merchandise. The auctions are held on Saturdays starting at 9 a.m. on the day of each sale.
A three-day preview and preregistration period opens in advance of each sale. The public can see some vehicles and merchandise being offered for sale, and interested participants are encouraged to register as bidders at a registration office set up on site at the auction lot. Registration office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 16; Thursday, May 17; and Friday, May 18.
“Our auctions usually attract big crowds,” said David Johnson, manager of the County’s Automotive Division. “It’s important to register in advance so you don’t miss any of the action when the sale starts promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday.”
TNT Auction, the contractor that manages the sales, posts a complete listing of items that will be sold at the action on its website at www.tntauction.com
. The postings get updated regularly as the date of the auction approaches and participants submit more items for sale.
In addition to Clark County, frequent participants in the sales include all the local cities, the state of Nevada, UNLV, McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas Convention Center, Clark County School District, Las Vegas Valley Water District, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, St. George, and Washington County, Utah. The date for the final auction of 2012 is Saturday, Nov. 17.
