First Friday extends hours starting September

LAS VEGAS -- Now you can spend a little more time having fun at First Friday. The event is extending its hours to midnight starting September 6.

Now in its 10th year, First Friday celebrates art and builds community with plenty of free activities for everyone.

FIRST FRIDAY LAS VEGAS HIGHLIGHTS:

ARTS DISTRICT
Location: Casino Center and Colorado Ave.
Art Style: Emerging and established artists, arts, crafts
Activities:
5 p.m. – Midnight – The Hub, located at Casino Center and Colorado Ave., will have assorted interactive activities and music to enjoy all evening. Wandering Minstrels and Singing Statues from Sin City Opera will be performing heritage themed music for $.01 donations throughout the evening while they roam the festival and entertain the crowds. Join them at their booth to try on wigs and take pictures, near the Welcome Tent on Colorado Ave. between Casino Center and Main St. The Art of Law will be offering free seminars on trusts, wills and estate and digital planning inside their tent located on the corner of Casino Center and California Ave.

KidZone: 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. is back with fun activities for little First Friday enthusiasts. Star Nursery brings a Kids’ Garden Club to plant cool season plants with recycled paper. The area will host the Native American Activation by Deebege Newe. A nonprofit organization that supports the land and people of The Great Basin, the activation will have Native American crafts and a speaker series throughout the evening. Social Paintbrush returns in a special location with art classes at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Green Street is the place where First Friday patrons can learn about spreading the love to the environment through multiple vendors and a great place to hang out, listen to music, make friends and get green. Star Nursery will decorate the area with seasonal plants, perfect for the desert climate. Also, Electric Vehicles Create a Change Now, March Against Monsanto, Vegas Roots, BottleHood, Clay Arts Vegas, Stitch-N-Time and Summerlin Energy.

HOURS OF OPERATION: 5 p.m. – Midnight

PARKING/SHUTTLES:
Shuttle service will run from 4:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.
Four Open Top Sightseeing Shuttles, two Celebrity Coaches and an additional handicap equipped shuttle will make a constant loop around the entire event route.

There will be ample free parking as well as $5 parking lots.
If you park in unauthorized parking areas, you may be subject to towing.

Fremont Route Shuttle Stops:
  • El Cortez- pick up and drop off on 6th St. across from the El Cortez valet entrance
  • Golden Nugget- lobby doors just south of Rush Tower
  • Arts District Hub at Colorado and Main

Government Center Route Shuttle Stops:
  • Government Center
  • Arts District Hub at Colorado and Main
Additional free parking at City Hall Garage at Stewart and Las Vegas Blvd. (must walk to Fremont shuttle stops)
