Local facilities help train dogs for veterans

Dogs rescued from animal shelters are not only getting a second chance, but are also helping save the lives of military troops and veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Here are two local organizations.

Smarty Paws Canine Coaching is a licensed and insured business in northwest Las Vegas that provides service dog training for owner-and-dog companionships. They have been in business for more than 10 years in the Las Vegas valley and have provided training to thousands of dogs in a variety of disciplines, including: obedience, agility, therapy dog training, service dog training, doggie day care/training. Veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard return home from their heroic service after going through unimaginable stress overseas. Many return with mental and physical issues ranging from post-traumatic stress disorder to other injuries and wounds, both physical and mental.
