LAS VEGAS -- Last year, about every other week, a baby died because of an unsafe sleeping environment. So far this year, we've already had one fatality. To prevent this fatal trend, Metro released a YouTube video with some simple tips to remember.
Allow babies to sleep alone -- and not sleeping with a parent, sibling or pet.
Place the baby on his or her back and in a proper bed -- a crib with a tight fitting sheet and maybe a light blanket and no quilts or toys.
A lot of times we'll see these quilt comforters, they’re heavy, they get wrapped around and the babies don't have the strength to move them. That poses a suffocation hazard -- quite the opposite of parents' good intentions.
