CARSON CITY, Nev. – As part of its ongoing investigation into NV Energy’s smart meter program, the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada has scheduled a workshop for 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the commission’s Carson City office, 1150 E. William St., with videoconferencing to its Las Vegas office, 9075 W. Diablo Drive, Suite 250.
The purpose of the workshop is to discuss NV Energy opt-out proposals, which were submitted to the commission last month and have been posted on the PUCN’s website. People may file written reply comments regarding the opt-out plans by
noon Friday, Jan. 13.People wishing to participate in the Jan. 18 workshop must file written reply comments by the deadline. Only comments related to NV Energy’s opt-out proposals will be discussed at the Jan. 18 workshop. Comments may be filed in person at either of the commission’s offices, by mail or
through the commission’s electronic filing system. E-mailed or faxed documents are not accepted.

Public comment received at consumer sessions last fall prompted the PUCN to open its investigation. The commission conducted its first smart meter workshop in early December. NV Energy began installing smart meters in Southern Nevada last summer and started its second phase of installation in Northern Nevada last month. The statewide project is scheduled to be completed by December 2012.
