LAS VEGAS – The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area have reopen several trails and developed and dispersed recreation sites to the general public.
The following facilities are open:
OPEN TRAILS: Bristlecone, Trail Canyon to Hwy 158, Robbers Roost, Telephone Canyon, Fletcher Canyon, Mary Jane Falls and North Loop to the junction with Trail Canyon.
OPEN RECREATION SITES: Cathedral Rock, Deer Creek, Sawmill, and Lee Meadows picnic areas. Fletcher View is open for day use only. Hilltop Campground and the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard
Resort are open to camping.
Due to ongoing fire suppression activities and potential flash flooding this weekend, all National Forest developed recreation sites in Kyle Canyon are open for day use activities only; no overnight camping. Forest closure order number 04-17-13-17 prohibits entry into the Carpenter 1 Fire burned area as well as the following trails:
CLOSED TRAILS AND RECREATION SITES: North Loop Trail at the junction with Trail Canyon Trail, Griffith Peak, South Loop, Cathedral Rock, Echo and Little Falls trails and the Lovell Canyon Trail System. Cathedral Rock and Echo trailheads and Harris Springs and CC Springs dispersed camping areas are also closed.
Violations of this order are punishable as a misdemeanor, with individual fines up to $5,000 and/or imprisonment of not more than six months. Old Mill, Foxtail, Kyle Canyon picnic areas and Mahogany Grove and McWilliams campgrounds are still closed due to construction.
