Volunteer registration: United Way of Southern Nevada has a long standing relationship with Southern Nevada Community Organizations Active for Disaster, the entity responsible for coordinating planning efforts and emergency management issues among various community organizations.

COAD coordinates planning, response, and recovery efforts by many organizations responding to disaster. Member organizations provide more effective response with less duplication. This collaboration has proven to be the most effective way for a wide variety of volunteers and organizations to work together in a crisis.

As the situation at Mount Charleston continues, please check United Way's website for up to date news on the situation and to sign up for any possible future volunteer opportunities.

By signing up, volunteers will receive updates on the progress and status of possible volunteer opportunities. At this time, experts have not identified any specific needs for volunteers however this could change in the near future.

This campaign aids victims of home and wildland fires, such as those affected by the Carpenter 1 fire at Mt. Charleston.

Golden Gaming’s 40 PT’s and Sierra Gold taverns in Southern Nevada will let patrons add a donation to the top of their food and beverage bill. Golden Gaming’s casinos in Pahrump will be collecting donations at the properties bars inside the Pahrump Nugget Hotel & Casino, Gold Town Casino and Lakeside Casino and RV Park.

Donations will be accepted 24 hours a day, now through July 31, and will be delivered directly to the Red Cross.

Ferraro’s: Beginning Wednesday, July 10, Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar will offer the “Mt. The menu will be available from 11:30 a.m. to close and will be available through July 17.

The meal will begin with a choice of Agnolotti or Penne Bolognese for appetizer and either a Mista Della Casa (mixed exotic greens salad with balsamic vinaigrette) or the Zuppa Del Giorno (soup of the day). Entrée options include a choice of the Salmone, Penne Carbonara E Piselli (house made pasta with egg, peas, pancetta, spec, shallots and Parmigiano Reggiano), Risotto Funghi (made with Italian Vialone nano rice, mixed exotic mushrooms, procini and mascarpone) or the Filetto di Manzo (a 6 oz. Filet Mignon with wild mushrooms in a veal demi glaze reduction). The meal concludes with a delicious dessert sampler. The proceeds will go to support personnel involved with the Carpenter Fire incident, as well as homeowner evacuees affected by the fires.

Ferraro’s is also requesting the community bring sealed cases of water directly to the restaurant located at 4480 Paradise Road, Las Vegas (across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino).

Ferraro’s staff will be accepting water donations Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
