The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada will operate its transit system on Saturday and Sunday schedules for various holidays in 2014. The alternate schedules are implemented due to traditionally lower ridership and less traffic on holidays.

In 2014, alternate schedules will proceed as follows:

•Monday, Jan. 20: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – Saturday schedule
•Monday, Feb. 17: President’s Day – Saturday schedule
•Monday, May 26: Memorial Day – Sunday schedule
•Friday, July 4: Independence Day – Sunday schedule
•Monday, Sept. 1: Labor Day – Sunday schedule
•Tuesday, Nov. 11: Veterans Day – Saturday schedule
•Thursday, Nov. 27: Thanksgiving Day – Sunday schedule
•Friday, Nov. 28: Family Day – Saturday schedule
•Thursday, Dec. 25: Christmas Day – Sunday schedule

The first alternate schedule will fall on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, which is Monday, Jan. 20. RTC transit will operate on a Saturday schedule.

Also on Jan. 20, the RTC will have various route detours in place from approximately 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. due to street closures from the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade. Impacted routes will include: Route 108 – Paradise, Route 109 – Maryland Parkway, Route 113/MAX – Las Vegas Boulevard North, Route 207 – Alta/Stewart, Route 208 – Washington, Route 215 – Bonanza, Boulder Highway Express (BHX), Henderson & Downtown Express (HDX), Centennial Express (CX), Westcliff Airport Express (WAX), Downtown & Veterans Medical Center Express (DVX), Strip & Downtown Express (SDX), and Deuce on the Strip. Though detours will be in place, transit service will still continue.

The RTC recommends riders refer to full detour details, which are available online at rtcsnv.com. Riders with questions may also call the RTC’s Customer Service line at (702) 228-7433.
