LAS VEGAS –
The Southern Nevada Water Authority reminds residents and businesses that the community’s winter watering schedule goes into effect Nov. 1 through Feb. 28.
The seasonal schedule limits both turf and drip irrigation to one day per week according to each customer’s assigned watering group, as listed below. Watering is prohibited on Sunday.
“Complying with the mandatory watering schedule is the simplest way homeowners and businesses can conserve water,” said SNWA Conservation Manager Doug Bennett.
Seasonal watering on one day a week is sufficient in the winter. However, hand watering is permitted to revive dry spots. The SNWA also suggests spacing watering times one hour apart to avoid wasteful runoff and allow the water to absorb into the soil. Watering in the mid-morning can help avoid afternoon winds that keep sprinklers from hitting their grass target, while reducing the risk of icing that can occur if watering is done during the early morning or evening.
