LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – A man is dead and another suffered minor injuries after their vehicle left the road and struck block walls in a neighborhood southeast of Vegas Valley Drive and Lamb Avenue on Monday night.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says that just after 11:30 p.m. Monday, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix was going at a high rate of speed eastbound on Ridgedale Avenue through the intersection of Ferndale Street. The vehicle left the travel lane in a counterclockwise direction, ran off the road and struck the walls in the 4300 block of Ridgedale.

The driver, a 45-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 34-year-old passenger was transported to Sunrise Hospital by ambulance for minor injuries.

This was the 99th traffic related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2012. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigations Section.
