LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3)-- A 54-year-old man died Sunday in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Cheyenne Avenue, Metro police said.

According to officers the man drove his black 2000 Lexus into the opposite lane of traffic around 8:30 a.m., striking light poles and overturning
on Cheyenne Avenue, west of Michael Way.

Witnesses told police that the Lexus was headed westbound on Cheyenne when it stopped at Michael Way and the 53-year-old passenger, Susan Douglass, exited the car and stood by the driver's door before the Lexus sped off knocking her to the ground.

The Lexus crossed Michael Way, went over the center median and entered the eastbound lanes of traffic before striking two streetlight poles, police said.

The man was transported to UMC Trauma where he was pronounced dead, according to police. This is the 13th traffic related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.

The man's identity will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office pending notification of next of kin.

Officers are not sure what caused the man to drive onto the wrong side of the road. The crash remains under investigation by police.

It was not a suicide. The reason the wreck happened is because he had a seizure while he was driving and it made his foot press down on the gas pedal. I've known him my whole life he was like an Uncle to me he's a great man and doesn't deserve to have people saying and posting rude comments especially w=ones that aren't true. I really wish that the news would learn and put all the facts down before they post things. I also wish that people would do the same thing before they post rude comments. Thank you Butterfly702 his family and friends really need the prayers right know, especially his wife.

This happened 5 feet from my bedroom window. Last night I couldn't sleep, every loud car made me cringe afraid it was flip. Seeing that man traped and not being able to help is a horrible feeling I will never forget. I've also thanked god it wasn't Monday morning when I walk my kids to school. My prayers are with his family

He is not 'lucky'. I guess the public at large is fortunate, sure; but he most certainly is not 'lucky'.
