(KSNV) The low-cost carrier is adding 18 new routes with a focus on the east coast.

Allegiant air has had success serving smaller airports, especially those in warm-weather destinations.

But the addition of airports on the far edges of the New York metropolitan area and Portsmouth, New Hampshire is a departure from that model.

Additionally, allegiant will add routes to Charlottesville, Virginia, Clarksburg, West Virginia, Concord, North Carolina, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Syracuse, New York and Manhattan, Kansas.

With the expansion, Allegiant will now serve 99 airports across the country.

In the last year, Allegiant Air stocks have been up 37 percent and 100 percent in the last two years.
