LAS VEGAS – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has extended the application period for the Volunteer Reserve Officer Program.
Applications will be accepted until 800 applications are received or through midnight Friday, March 8, whichever occurs first.

This is an unpaid, at-will and commissioned volunteer position performing police work in any of LVMPD’s patrol areas.
Reserve Police Officers are required to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours each month and attend additional training, in order to remain current on law enforcement and Department policies and procedures.
Metro operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Reserve Police Officers will be assigned to an area and shift based upon operational need and the availability of each individual.
Applicants will participate in a selection process, which includes a background check, similar to that administered by LVMPD for Police Recruit. Once successfully completed, applicants will then participate in a 420-hour Reserve Police Officer Academy and a 200-hour Field Training Program.
Upon successful completion of requirements Reserve Officers will receive their commissioned status and a basic State of Nevada Reserve Officer POST Certificate.
