CARSON CITY —
The Nevada Assembly Democratic Caucus has announced that Steven Brooks is no longer a member of the caucus.
The Nevada Assembly Democratic Caucus, in an email sent to the media, said it has determined it’s in Brooks' and the organization’s best interest to part ways.
Here is the entire text of the emailed announcement regarding Assemblyman Brooks.
"Assemblyman Steven Brooks is no longer a member of the Assembly Democratic Caucus. At this time, the organization has determined it’s in Mr. Brooks and the organization’s best interest to part ways. The caucus encourages him to work on his health issues without the rigor of caucus business. The ADC remains as committed as ever to conducting the people’s business this session."
Earler on Wednesday the Las Vegas Democratic Assemblyman told reporters that his sanity has never been in question, but that he's dealing with a "purely physical" medical issue.
Brooks attended the Assembly floor session Wednesday, the day after he rejected a leave of absence request from Assembly leadership. He told reporters later that a paid leave was simply out of the question because he's here to serve his constituents.
Brooks says he wouldn't accept a penny from taxpayers if he wasn't working.
