LAS VEGAS --
Nevadaween on Oct. 26 is one of the official Nevada 150th Birthday kickoff events for the sesquicentennial year celebration.
There will be fun family activities such as pumpkin painting, a scavenger hunt and Nevada-shaped cookie decorating. Sample delicious homemade soups and vote for your favorite at the Soup Cook-off, starting at 11 a.m. Also enjoy a slice of Nevada’s Birthday cake.
Children 12 and under are invited to participate in the Historical Costume Contest by dressing as a character from Nevada’s past. Sign up for the contest is from 9 a.m. until noon, and will take place at 1 p.m.
Four winners will be selected from three age groups: 3 years old and younger, 4 to 6 years old, 7 to 9 years old and 10 to 12 years old. The winner from each group will receive a $25.00 gift card and everyone who participates will receive a certificate and treat bag. The Nevadaween celebration will include a variety of raffle prizes; tickets are $1 each or $5 for six.

- WHERE: The Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort is located in downtown Las Vegas, at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Washington Avenue; 500 East Washington Avenue.
- WHO: Friends of the Fort and Nevada State Parks are sponsoring the event with support from the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas.
- COST: Admission is $1, children 12 and under are free.
