LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A 17-year-old girl was found dead on East Charleston Boulevard by pedestrians shortly after midnight Sunday, the victim of a hit-and-run accident.

Metro said Alexis Monasterio was found about 12:10 a.m. in the center travel lane on Charleston near the intersection on Stillwater Bridge Street. That is on the far east side of the Las Vegas Valley. Police said witness statements and evidence indicated that she had been struck by a westbound vehicle.

The death is the 26th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.

The name of the victim was released by the Clark County coroner on Sunday. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined.

Anyone with information is urged to call Detective P. Solomon at (702) 828-3786 of Metro's Fatal Detail, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or go to crimestoppersofnv.com. Tips directly leading to an arrest or an indictment processed through Crime Stoppers may result in a cash reward.
