LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- After local voters shot down property tax hikes to fund fixes on run-down schools and libraries in Henderson, there's talk of another push to increase property taxes.
Clark County and city leaders got together in Carson City Friday, with some saying increased property taxes are a must and wanting the state legislature to give them that power of raising them on their own.
What the city and county leaders want is what they call Home Rule, which gives them the ability to hike taxes on their own without getting legislative approval.
Conservative think tank Nevada Policy Research Institute says increased property taxes are not necessary, but more cuts are.
