LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Now southern Nevada has the potential to become a hub for a growing area of national security.

News 3's Gerard Ramalho is in to talk about drones.

The government is looking to create six test areas across the country.

Clark County could become one of those test areas. There's a bidding process involved and commisioners voted in favor of moving forward with the process.

What was one reserved only for sci-fi movies is now more commonplace than many might think.

Flying drones like the ones showcased at this year's Unmanned Vehicles Convention in Las Vegas are already used in everything from military defense to film-making.

Soon Clark County could be a hub for future applications.
