LAS VEGAS -- The man in a motorized wheelchair who was struck by a car on Flamingo and died Monday has been identified as Raybert Radomes of Las Vegas.
Metro says the Radomes was struck while crossing Flamingo Road, 10 feet west of Duneville Street around 10:54 a.m.
The Radomes was in an implied crosswalk in the intersection just east of Jones Boulevard. One car had stopped for the man but one driver passed the stopped vehicle and struck the man.
Metro did not immediately send out a fatal investigative unit because the man was transported to University Medical Center and did not appear to be in critical condition.
According to Metro's report, a 2007 Chrysler 300 driven by Pieterwas Timmer, 68, was traveling westbound on Flamingo Road in the left travel lane.
The non-motorist, operating a motorized wheelchair, was attempting to cross Flamingo Road from the north to the south. The non-motorist entered into the westbound travel lanes and path of the Chrysler which caused a collision.
The man was transported to UMC Trauma and pronounced deceased by medical personnel approximately six hours later. The driver of the Chrysler was not injured.
This collision was the 41st traffic related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2013.
The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section.
