LAS VEGAS -- The 17-year-old fatally struck by a car Saturday evening on Sahara Avenue has been identified as Jose Conde, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
Conde, who Metro Police said was jaywalking, died from blunt force head trauma, the coroner said. The death was ruled an accident.
The accident happened at 5:46 p.m. on Sahara Avenue east of Decatur Boulevard in the western valley.
The preliminary investigation indicates Conde and a juvenile female were crossing Sahara Avenue from the south curb to the north curb and were not in a marked crosswalk or at an intersection.
A 2005 Honda Accord driving east on Sahara Avenue struck the pair when they entered the eastbound travel lane, police said.
Emergency medical crews pronounced Conde dead at the scene, police said. The female suffered minor injuries.
The 19-year-old driver of the Accord was not injured, police said.
Police determined jaywalking, or pedestrian error, caused the accident, which was the 18th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
