LAS VEGAS — Attorney and community volunteer Lesley Cohen was appointed to the State Assembly today by the Clark County Commission. Cohen was chosen to fill the Henderson Assembly District 29 seat that was recently vacated by April Mastroluca.
Cohen will serve on the Education, Judiciary, and Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Mining Committees in the 2013 legislative session.
Speaker-elect Marilyn Kirkpatrick said, “Lesley Cohen will be a tremendous asset to the constituents of Assembly District 29. Lesley is a smart, thoughtful, and caring individual who will be a strong advocate for her constituents and for all Nevadans.”
Cohen added, “I’ve always deeply cared about my community, and the state of Nevada. I am excited to serve in Carson City, and I look forward to the opportunity to work on issues that will have an immediate and long-term impact on all Nevadans.”
Cohen has been a resident of Clark County since her family relocated to Nevada in 1972. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a law degree from DePaul University.
She is a volunteer with Legal Aid of Southern Nevada’s “Ask-a-Lawyer” program, and serves as vice president of a volunteer pet adoption group.
