Where did you get your degree in electromagnetism? They are not going to raise rates on the rest of us so you can have an antique; the banks are not going to cut us a break on financing. I drive a car; do I have to subsidize your horse and buggy too? . I COSTS money to send an employee out to read a meter, a job that can be done electronically for next to nothing. I have a meter, was given no choice, was not told I would be charged for the device and customer service representatives from NVE don't seem to know anything about anything, won't let me talk to a supervisor and the scam of NV Energy continues. When CEO's and CFO's get bonuses of over $5,000,000, yes, that is five million EACH, and my rates double, there is something wrong with this picture. Considering that most of the people who sit on commission boards are in the pockets of the casinos, big businesses or monopoly utilties, I don't hold out much hope of the PUC making any in depth investigations or making any kind of changes. I do NOT want this meter, would like it removed, would be wonderful to see another power company come in and give NVE a run for their money, (in my dreams)... Any one know how I can get NVE to take this crap away?? Would be most appreciative for any info. Thanking anyone in advance!

I feel the same way. When I got my bill last month I seen that I was charged $8 to have this new meter. I live in an apartment complex and I did not ask to have this meter installed. I think it should of been up to the customer. Or if your like me and live in a complex I think either they should pay for it or the complex should. I didnt ask for this and I would prefer to have my old one back, at least I wouldnt be charged to have something that I didnt ask for.

Smart meters do rip people off. The bills of energy use does double and even if you use less people are still billed more. I hope the PUC investigates this and makes smart meters illegal to use... I want NVENERGY to stop using these meters otherwise all las vegans will see their utility bills double if your paying 400.00 now you will end up paying 800.00 dollars even if you try to watch what you use and follow the rules..

Congrats to the PUC leaders for making the decision to investigate this issue! There are numerous concerns that need to be investigated. It's interesting to note that when the PUC approved this project a year ago, they had some concerns and specifically expressed its general concern with customer acceptance of the project and noted that, “it is the Companies’ responsibility to ensure this [customer acceptance] occurs." Obviously, that didn't happen.
