The district attorney's office will make a case to a grand jury that criminal charges should be filed against the Metro officer who shot and killed disabled veteran Stanley Gibson. The testimony starts next week and then a decision on how to move forward. News 3's Marissa Mike spoke with sources close to the case.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) --
The Clark County District Attorney's Office will ask a grand jury to endorse criminal charges against a Metro police officer after a deadly officer-involved shooting late last year.

The grand jury will meet next week to consider charges against Officer Jesus Arevalo for the shooting and killing of Gulf War veteran Stanley Gibson on Dec. 12.

News 3 reported in August that District Attorney Steve Wolfson was 99 percent certain that he was going to file charges in this case.

After police were called to a disturbance, Gibson was surrounded by officers and refused to get out of his car.

Officers had come up with a plan to use pepper spray and a bean-bag gun to stop Gibson, but, for some reason, Arevalo used lethal ammunition.
