LAS VEGAS -- You're watching how the violence on the Strip ended.

This is video from the dash cam of a local cab, No. 2869, just before 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 21, 2013, as another cab burns in the background after an explosive collision with a Maserati that left three people dead.

That part of the story you know. It turns out, this same cab also caught how the trouble started.

After examining that video closely, News 3’s Jim Snyder walks viewers through the events that led up to the fiery scene.

Viewers need to understand up front, according to sources close to the investigation, this is a story of two Maseratis, a black one and a gold one, and a man who got them mixed up, and pointed his anger, and his gun at the wrong one.

A view from that same taxi, 2869, seen 15 minutes earlier is coming down the ramp from the valet area at Aria at 4:15 in the morning as it merges down onto Harmon and this perspective catches the first sign of trouble.

Here's the first time we see the gold Maserati pulling ahead of the cab from the left then pulling up to stop in the left turn lane at Las Vegas Boulevard to go north.

While we wait for the Range Rover to show up, according to our sources, there was an altercation, an argument back in the valet area a few minutes before between Ammar Harris and the driver of a black Maserati. There was some angry words and chest bumping.

Investigators believe Harris got the two Maseratis mixed up.

When he spots the gold one waiting at the light he pulls in front of it at 4:17 and 40 seconds, blocking its path, his window down. According to the police report he was yelling out the window, just before the light turns green.

News 3 sources say even though his passengers were trying to tell him, this is not the guy you have a beef with, Harris didn't listen.

One minute and 39 seconds later three people will be dead.

In the video the Range Rover shows up, and pulls in front of the Maserati’s path.

There were four people in that Range Rover -- Harris and three women. They had all been partying at Haze Nightclub inside Aria, until it closed at four in the morning.

There were two people in the Maserati -- Kenny Cherry Junior in the driver's seat, and Freddy Walters sitting next to him.

In the video the Range Rover takes off, turns left.

And as they take off from the light, the Maserati speeding after the Range Rover, the police report says there is trouble brewing between them.

The Maserati follows and cuts in front of cab as the cab catches up at the next light to the north in front of the Bellagio and Paris resorts.

The cab catches up with Range Rover and the Maserati at the next light. Cars are closer than normal, and there is only small space between.

In the video the two vehicles are unusually close. The Range Rover cheated over to the far right of its lane with the right turn signal on.

Harris seems anxious to take off and is inching forward before the light turns green at 4:18:50.

When the light turns green, Cherry gets the jump on Harris as both vehicles speed off.

The Range Rover swerves into other lane and Harris keeps pace and then swerves over into Cherry's lane forcing him to hit the brakes.

The Ranger Rover pulls ahead and gets in the lane in front of the Masarati.

The police report says this is the moment when Harris fires the first shot. Cherry was hit in the shoulder; the bullet went through his chest and hit Freddy Walters in the passenger seat.

From this point on, Cherry is bleeding out, dying from that wound. It was a single bullet that killed him and not the crash that is now just seconds away.

Harris pulls ahead and cuts over into the lane in front of the Maserati.

It's a little hard to make out from this angle because they are so far ahead of the cab now, but the Maserati moves to the left of the Range Rover just before they reach Flamingo.

There is an explosion in the distance.

Then, at 4:19 and 19 seconds, you can make out the explosion in the distance.

Now, brace yourself for a closer look at that moment of deadly impact from a cab stopped on Las Vegas Boulevard just before Flamingo.

We'll play it through at normal speed and then slow it down to explain all that you are seeing and hearing.

This cab has a second camera which is trained on the driver and his passenger and shows the look of shock on their faces.

On closer examination at slow speed, if you look through the right side of the rear window you can see headlights coming. That's the Maserati making that move to the left as you hear several gunshots then a squeal of tires, and cars colliding.

The Maserati clips the back of a white pick-up in the intersection with Flamingo, and then smashes into the cab.

The explosion is instantaneous and kills cab driver Michael Boldon and his passenger, Sandra Sutton-Wasmund. Their bodies are burned so severely that dental records were the only way to identify them.

The intensity of the blast lights up the faces of the cab driver and his passenger.

Three other cars then crash into the wreckage, leaving six more people injured --  while the black Range Rover rolls past it all unscathed.

Detectives didn't find a gun on Cherry or in the Maserati, and no evidence that he had one. According to the police report, this was not a shootout, it was an execution.

Harris will be in district court on May 6 to enter a plea to charges, including three for murder.
