LAS VEGAS -- Construction of new roadway improvements will continue through Nov. 30 on Decatur Boulevard between Lake Mead Boulevard and Rancho Drive.
In order to accommodate the weekday traffic demands while also trying to limit noise concerns, the work activities will be split between overnight and daytime hours.
Work activities which would significantly impact rush hour traffic will be completed during nighttime hours. All reasonable efforts will be made to keep a minimum of two lanes open in each direction during peak morning and afternoon hours. During nighttime work, traffic may be restricted to one lane in each direction
Preliminary work, completed earlier this year, consisted of improvements to sidewalk areas to meet federal Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. The current work consists replacement of the top layer of asphalt, median island modifications for improved traffic flow, placement of a full width pavement overlay structural wearing course, final utility adjustments, and installation of new traffic delineation and traffic signal loop detectors.
Motorists are advised to use Jones Boulevard or Rancho Drive as alternate routes.
Las Vegas Paving Corporation is the contractor. City of Las Vegas Department of Operations and Maintenance personnel are managing the project. Funding for this project is provided by the city of Las Vegas. The estimated cost for this project is $1 million.
