LAS VEGAS -- Doctor Henri Wetselaar and his assistant David Litwin are facing charges in the death of Danny White. Prosecutors say White died because the doctor prescribed large amounts of narcotics. White’s family filed a lawsuit accusing Wetselaar of medical malpractice.
The attorney who filed the civil lawsuit says Wetselaar was not providing proper care.
Westlaar was arrested yesterday on federal charges that he illegally distributed pain medication to people who didn't need them. The federal trial begins in early December, no word on a timeline for these new civil charges filed against him.
The court and the DEA have ordered Doctor Wetselarr not to prescribe any controlled substances until further notice.
