LAS VEGAS (KSNV - MyNews3.com) -- A 35-year-old Las Vegas man has been arrested and charged with two felony DUI charges after an accident Saturday morning that injured 4 people -- two of them critically -- near downtown.
Uziel Reyes-Perez has been charged with two counts of felony DUI as well as driving on a permit, not a license.
Metro police reported that a vehicle was headed northbound on Veterans Memorial when it left the roadway and struck four male pedestrians near Sycamore Lane, between East Bonanza Road and East Washington Avenue about 11:45 a.m. The location is behind the Lied Library just west of North Las Vegas Boulevard.
Two men were in critical condition at UMC Trauma, 58-year-old Anthony Coca and 53-year-old Gary Taylor. Brian Kopperman, 48, was listed in serious condition and Martin Lomas, 55, suffered minor injuries. All are from Las Vegas.
Reyes-Perez was uninjured. He was given field sobriety tests at the scene and later booked into the Clark County Detention Center. His first court hearing is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Monday.
