LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The driver of a gray sedan is sought by Metro detectives after a hit-and-run accident early this morning killed a pedestrian on West Sahara Avenue between Tam Drive and Las Vegas Boulevard South.
Metro reported the auto-pedestrian accident happened shortly after 1:30 a.m. on West Sahara Avenue about 710 feet east of Tam Drive. A witness statement and evidence at the scene indicated the pedestrian was walking on the north sidewalk on Sahara and either fell or laid down in the right travel lane when the vehicle traveling west of Sahara struck the pedestrian.
The vehicle -- described as an early 2000s gray sedan -- continued traveling west on Sahara.
Metro did not indicate if the victim was a man or a woman.
The death was the 16th fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
The name of the victim and the exact cause of death will be released by the Clark County coroner's office after an autopsy is conducted.
