CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Time is running out for families to lock in current Nevada college prices with the state's prepaid tuition program.

The program's open enrollment period ends Feb. 28.

Parents or relatives can pay a lump sum or spread the payments over several years. Officials say the program is transferable to public or private out-of-state colleges and universities, and can be transferred to other family members, including a first cousin.

Treasurer Kate Marshall says the program is an opportunity for pay for their child's future education while avoiding tuition price hikes.

More than 14,000 children have been enrolled in the program over the past 13 years.

More information is available at the Nevada Pre-Paid Tuition Program website.
