LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- In a Las Vegas courtroom this morning, families of the victims of alleged serial killer Nathan Burkett heard the disturbing details of how their loved ones may have died.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said they linked Burkett to the killings of Barbara Ann Cox, 22, in 1978, and Tina Gayle Mitchell, 27, in 1994, through DNA tests. He was arrested in August in Mississippi.
Prosecutors brought in several officers and officials who responded to the scenes.
They were brought to the stand for the preliminary hearing to see if there is enough evidence to bring Burkett to trial.
Family members shuddered and cried throughout the hearing.
At least four Metro or Clark County officials who responded to the murder scenes -- some as far back as 30 years ago – testified.
Burkett is said to have favored strangulation in allegedly killing at least four women in Las Vegas going back to 1978.
The court heard testimony about how Burkett either choked or tied a belt around a victim’s neck and then dragged bodies to different spots.
It was almost too much or the victims’ families who could be heard crying as the details of autopsies or crime scenes described how Burkett may have killed their loved ones.
