LAS VEGAS (KSNV & AP) -- An army of federal agents swarmed a Las Vegas neighborhood and are now searching a home that belongs to a former Los Angeles police officer accused of killing three people including a police officer.
Christopher Jordan Dorner appears to be at war with his former colleagues.
News 3’s Elizabeth Donatelli is in the neighborhood where Dornan owns a home and has this report.
We have also learned that Dorner was Naval Reserve unit commander for eight months in 2009 at a northern Nevada air base.
Fallon Naval Air Station spokesman Zip Upham said Thursday that Christopher Dorner was a reserve lieutenant in a unit augmenting security on the base about 70 miles east of Reno, and at a reserve center at Stead Airport north of Reno.
Upham says he doesn't recall ever meeting Dorner.
Upham says that after November 2009, Dorner was assigned to a volunteer training unit at a Naval Reserve center in Los Angeles.
Dorner is suspected in the weekend slayings of two people in Orange County, Calif., and the shooting death early Thursday of a police officer in Riverside.
Dorner also once played college football at a university in Cedar City, Utah.
Southern Utah University athletic and academic officials say Christopher Dorner had an unremarkable career as a reserve running back in 1999 and 2000.
University Relations Vice President Dean O'Driscoll says Dorner graduated in 2001 with a political science degree and a minor in psychology.
Cedar City is off Interstate 15 about 170 miles northeast of Las Vegas.
