LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- The couple accused of beating their son to death will stay in jail.

The mother and step-father of seven year old R.J. Arrington went before a judge today.

One of the people devastated by this tragedy is the boy's biological father who lives in Illinois. News 3's Marissa Mike spoke with him today.

He says he is still numb and in disbelief. His son, Rodderick Arrington junior carried his name. The boy who loved to play and sing, now gone and his father is left with regret he didn't fight hard enough to keep his first-born son.

As CPS and the school come under fire for RJ death, the bigger question should be, why was RJ sent to his mother, who had a record of abuse that the father and grandparents knew about in Illinois. CPS and school can only do so much, unless the individual reports abuse at home. Lets remember children will do what it takes to keep a family intact, even hide abuse.
