LAS VEGAS -- Fire dispatchers received multiple calls of a fire at 12:28 Friday afternoon of a fire behind a house at 9330 Fisher Avenue near Ann Road and Ft. Apache in the unincorporated area of Clark County.
When firefighters from Las Vegas Fire & Rescue arrived they found two large RV motor homes fully involved with fire.
They were parked against a small barn that was used as a workshop and the wind was fanning the flames against the barn.
There were no fire hydrants in the immediate area so firefighters had to use the water in the tanks of the fire engines to attack the fire.
A fire hydrant was located a distance away, but the water had to be trucked in. Two more fire engines and three water tenders were dispatched because of the possibility of the wind pushing the fire to a barn on the next property. Two of the water tenders were cancelled and only the one from Las Vegas was used.
An aerial ladder was raised and was able to stop the fire from spreading to the neighboring property. Within 20 minutes firefighters surrounded the fire and had it under control. Damage was confined to the two vehicles and moderate damage to the barn.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Clark County Fire Department investigators. They will also determined the amount of damage also. There were no injuries in connection with the incident.
