LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) --
One month ago Monday, Superstorm Sandy slammed into the East Coast. The governors of New York and New Jersey say the storm ran up a bill of $71 billion in their states.
Las Vegans stepped up to help in many different ways. One donation drive collected dozens of boxes of supplies. But they’re still stuck here.
Eleanor and Tom Racioppo reached out to bigger nonprofit groups but were told they can't accept the items because they have enough. They even turned to delivery companies who told them they can't help because they've already contributed to Sandy's relief efforts.
Now the family tells us they're at a roadblock. They have the goods but no money to send about 2,500 pounds across the nation.
The couple says the ideal situation is finding a sponsor to send all the goods as soon as possible.
At this point, they can't take any more donations until they can send what they have. If you want to help, you can contact them on Facebook
