NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – As many as 40 students may have been diagnosed with scabies at Lomie G. Heard Elementary School on Nellis Air Force Base, a health district official says.
Clark County School District officials notified students’ parents Tuesday that several students were diagnosed with scabies.
An official with the Southern Nevada Health District says the group is aware of the situation, and the school is being sanitized. Students who are diagnosed with scabies are not allowed to come to school and need to be treated.
A letter was sent to parents notifying them of the situation.
According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, scabies is an “easily spread skin disease caused by a very small species of mite.”
