HENDERSON, Nev. (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Zappos moving its headquarters is a big deal for downtown Las Vegas. Local businesses are benefiting and there's a sense a revitalization process is taking shape. But what happens to those left behind when it moves out?
Some businesses owners in the Pebble Market Place Shopping center say it's going to make an impact but they don't think it's going to be so big they're going to have to close their doors.
Joan Burlini and her two dogs run Paw Prints pet supplies. Her shop is across the street from a business park which is saying goodbye to Zappos.
She says Zappos employees wander over on their lunch break, which they no longer since the move out of the Henderson offices.
“I think it does impact a little bit,” Burlini said. “It's not like it the only large company. There are still a lot of other businesses in the area so I’m hoping it doesn't impact greatly.”
So far 200 employees have moved from these Henderson offices to downtown and won't be frequenting nearby businesses like Josie's Frozen Yogurt
“They get 20 percent off and we see them a lot three or fourd times a week,” said Martel Stevenson of Josie’s Frozen Yogurt. “You hate to lose any customer for any reason but that's the nature of the business."
