Q: I’m looking to “tighten up” my stomach area, how much off time would I need to take after the operation? How much does it scar?A: Without seeing you, I cannot determine what procedure you would need.
However, you likely need liposuction, abdominoplasty ("tummy tuck"), or a combination of both. Liposuction typically has a short recovery and you could return to work within days. You would simply need to continue wearing a compression garment for weeks. The scars for liposuction procedures are very small.
Abdominoplasty has a much longer recovery. I recommend at least 2-3 weeks off from work, depending on what type of work you do. In general an abdominoplasty scar is long, spanning from hip to hip. For most people who need this surgery, the scar is well-worth losing a hanging abdomen with excessive fat and/or stretch marks.
