LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Las Vegas officials are gearing up for the grand opening of a brand-new, seven-story City Hall.
Several departments will open for business Tuesday at 10 a.m., including the offices of the clerk, city attorney, and parks and recreation department. The rest will be in place by next Monday.
The $146 million building is financed by about $185 million in bonds. It features 33 solar "trees," or towers covered with solar panels, and is expected to cut energy costs to as little as $300,0000 each year. That's down from the $700,000 annual energy bill at the former site.
Online apparel company Zappos.com will renovate and move into the old City Hall.
