I'm sure that anyone who had to option to come here legally would do it. I'm sure that coming here illegally was the only way to come at all. There is so much ugliness out there. What's wrong with a president soliciting a group's vote? How else are they supposed to win? And what gravy do you think these people expect to get? They are a hard working group. I've never known a hispanic person who was afraid of hard work. Legal or illegal, they don't have it that easy. Not with the attitudes towards immigrants that prevail today. I'm not saying we should just give up, open up the borders and let them flood in, that they should automatically have the rights of a citizen. But can you honestly say that you wouldn't try to immigrate to the U.S., anyway that you could, in hopes of a better, safer life for yourself and your family, if you were a native of Mexico? It's the numbers that scare people. But these are still individuals, individual families looking for a better life. Unfortunately, there are negative effects on everyone else's standard of living as a result. But there are also hidden upsides to immigration that people either don't comprehend or won't acknowledge.

17 years in the country and no social security card. I think her parents should get a visit from the IRS! Good luck to her and hopefully she will have enough initiative to become a citizen instead of waiting for congress!!! Because it will never happen!!!
