LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Victims in traffic accidents that occurred within six hours Friday night/Saturday morning in the north end of the Las Vegas Valley have been identified by the Clark County coroner's office.

Juge Brooks, 60, was killed about 6:55 p.m. Friday an auto-pedestrian accident at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Bartlett Avenue.

Brooks was the 40th pedestrian killed on Clark County roadways this year.

Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicate Brooks was walking from west to east across the northbound lanes of MLK in a marked crosswalk at Bartlett when he was hit by a northbound 2012 Chrysler 300 that failed to yield.

The second fatal accident occurred about 12:30 a.m. on North Maryland Parkway near East Bonanza Road when two vehicles lost control at a bend in the road while traveling at a high rate of speed, according to Metro.

Killed was 19-year-old Iveth Cruz of North Las Vegas. She was a passenger in a 1997 Acura. The 22-year-old driver of the car suffered critical injuries and was transported to UMC Trauma.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 17-year-old man, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. He suffered minor injuries.

The deaths were the 85th and 86th traffic fatalities in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
