Local charities need a hand to help those in need

LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Area non-profits are asking for your help.

One says it faces a greater need this year and another is opening a shelter a days earlier than planned.

News 3's Elizabeth Donatelli joins us with more on what these groups are doing and asking for.

This is always a busy time of year for organizations and things are anything but slowing down.

Here are two drop-off locations for people who would like to donate and help:

Ousted teacher found dead in Henderson jail

John Mannion, a fired Clark County high school teacher and football coach was found dead Oct. 19 in the Henderson Detention Center of an apparent suicide.
