LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- A local man was arrested Tuesday night after leading police on a chase.
The suspect was stopped by a resident leaving a car dealership.
Metro units had the driver of a pick-up stopped and surrounded near Bonanza and Eastern, but he squeaked by and took off.
A Metro chopper tracked him while ground units kept a distance until he pulled over near Sahara and Boulder Highway.
The suspect took off running, then was tackled by a man who comes exited a car dealership as an unmarked police car arrived.
The man said he was glad he was able to help officers get their man.
"I saw him when they were chasing him,” he said. “He stopped across the street, and I saw him when got out of the truck, he started running. That's when I saw him, and I kind of tackled him down.
"You know, i just tried to help out."
Metro says they were just trying to stop the suspect for a traffic violation when he took off. It turned out that the truck he was driving was stolen.
