LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- An unidentified man has been arrested for attempting to set fire Sunday morning to a central valley apartment.
Clark County firefighters responded shortly after 9:30 a.m. to the Sierra Square Apartments at 920 Sierra Vista Drive for a possible fire in apartment. Metro officers were already on the scene and had peppered sprayed and handcuffed a man who had allegedly set a phone book on fire on top of the stove.
Firefighters determined the fire was contained to the phone book. It was first believed the man had laid over the burning phone book suffering burns to his stomach and chest. However, after CCFD paramedics examined the man, it was discovered that about three days ago the man had poured bleach on himself causing chemical burns. The pepper spray aggravated the previous burn.
Metro said the man had been arrested for attempted arson before.
The man was transported to a local hospital and was later arrested by Clark County Fire Investigators for first-degree arson.
