LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A man riding in a car was killed early this morning when the vehicle apparently lost control and hit a pickup truck on East Sahara Avenue.
Metro reported the fatal accident happened at 1:51 a.m. when a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier headed eastbound on Sahara Avenue lost control and began sliding toward the south curb and hit a parked 2004 Toyota Tacoma about 600 feet west of Sloan Lane.
The Tacoma was occupied by a security guard watching the NV Energy Winterwood Substation.
Both drivers were transported to Sunrise Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Two passengers in the Chevrolet were transported to UMC Trauma. The front-seat passenger was admitted with serious injuries. The back-seat passenger succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital
The accident was the 47th traffic related fatality in the LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2013. The collision remains under investigation by Metro's accident investigations section.
