LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released the name of the officer involved Sunday in a shooting in relation to a domestic violence situation.
Officer Jacquar Roston, 36, has been with Metro since April 2009.
Metro reports it received a call at 10:22 p.m. Sunday from a woman who said her ex-boyfriend had physically battered her and had damaged her vehicle.
Officers found the woman inside of her vehicle in the parking lot of the closed Hollywood Park, 1600 S. Hollywood Blvd. The ex-boyfriend also was located, sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle.
After removing the woman from the vehicle and speaking to the man who was still seated inside of the vehicle, the responding officer fired at least one round from a handgun, striking him in the leg.
Responding medical personnel transported the man to the UMC Trauma Center.
Roston is assigned to the LVMPD Patrol Division, Southeast Area Command and has been placed on routine paid administrative leave.
