LAS VEGAS -- The officer involved Sunday morning's officer-involved shooting which occurred near the 600 block of North 12th Street has been identified as Officer Daniel Garmendia

Officer Garmendia is 39 years of age and has been employed with the LVMPD since November 2009.

He is currently assigned to the LVMPD Patrol Division, Northeast Area Command.

Officer Garmendia has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this event.

Police say officers were investigating a suspicious parked vehicle on Sunrise Avenue about 4 a.m. Sunday when the officers recognized one of the people inside as a suspect in a robbery and shooting last month.

Police say the vehicle fled the scene, and a male and female suspect later fled on foot in different directions.

Officials say that the male, later identified as Brandon Joseph Ogonowski, 28, of Las Vegas, fired a handgun as officers closed in. Police say Garmendia fired back and hit the Ogonowski, who was taken to a hospital.

A female suspect, identified Monday night as Christina Harrington, 24, of Las Vegas, was caught shortly after. Harrington has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges stemming from the December 29, 2013 robbery includding robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, and grand larceny auto.

Ogonowski remains hospitalized and has been booked in absentia for attempted murder of a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting a police officer with a deadly weapon, felony evading, burglary [previous warrant], and Possession of stolen property [previous warrant].
