LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Metro police has released video of a major marijuana bust that took place on Mount Charleston on Tuesday.

Members of the Southern Nevada HITDA Task Force’s “Eradication Team” removed approximately 3,936 mature marijuana plants with an estimated street value in excess of $7.4 million dollars from a remote area of the Mac’s Canyon region of the Mount Charleston National Recreation Area during an early morning raid Tuesday, September 25, 2012.

The outdoor marijuana grow was located in rugged terrain approximately three miles Northwest of the intersection of State Routes 156 and 158. The investigation which led to the raid was sparked by a citizen’s tip of suspicious activity in the area.

There were no suspects present at the time of raid and no arrests have been made. Officers searching the abandoned makeshift camps found at the grow site recovered evidence which will aid in the ongoing investigation of this criminal enterprise.

This is the fifth outdoor marijuana grow discovered within Clark County so far this year. Approximately 36,000 plants with an estimated street value in excess of $72 million dollars have been removed from outdoor grow operations within Southern Nevada by the HITDA Task force in 2012.

Also involved in Tuesday’s operation were members of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Forest Service, the Federal Bureau of Land Management, and the North Las Vegas Police Department.
