LAS VEGAS -- In an effort to increase the safety of those celebrating New Year’s Eve throughout Las Vegas, Metro will once again be strictly enforcing various city and county ordinances throughout the holiday period.

These include:

Clark County ordinance 12.43.020 and City of Las Vegas ordinance 10.77.020, both of which ban metal and glass containers on the Strip and in downtown areas from 6 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Tuesday. Plastic cups and containers will be allowed.

The public is also reminded that, per Clark County ordinance 12.12.015, the Strip curfew for children under 18 years of age and not accompanied by a parent or adult legal guardian begins 9 p.m. Monday and extends until 5 a.m. Tuesday.

New Year’s Eve revelers are also being asked not to carry large backpacks, satchels or knapsacks that could carry cans and bottles.

Additionally, everyone is reminded the discharge of firearms into the air, commonly referred to as “celebratory gunfire,” is both highly dangerous and illegal. Individuals found discharging weapons will be subject to arrest for a variety of criminal charges.

The men and women of Metro extend its sincere wishes to all Southern Nevada residents and tourists for a safe and happy new year.

Hopefully the casinos don't sell beverages in metal or glass containers.
